The last two weeks as you know I was in Indianapolis for both a test and the Moto 2 race as part of the Moto GP weekend. I have to say that was probably the hardest two weeks I have done. ( I used to travel 200 days a year ) Bear in mind that there were a lot of little details that we were working on the whole time since this isn't our regular program and it was all put together in such a short time. Testing went well, albeit we didn't have a target. We didn't know what the target top speed was, we didn't know what the target lap time would be (we guessed), and we didn't know what tires would be available. This was probably our biggest downfall. That and now that I have been to Indy, if I was to go testing right now I would go to Fontana for a week instead of the two places we went to. Fontana closest resembles Indy, bumps, flat corners, long sweepers, hard braking, tight exits, and speedway transition. I just love hind sight it seems so obvious. The first 1600 km we did testing went flawless. I only mention this because Murphy's Law always shows up somewhere. For us it was the very first practice. Roger has a habit of dragging the rear brake and so to help with this problem we had made some changes to the lever and we had been running it with a little air in the line to mitigate the amount of pressure that could be applied. Much to our surprise, this creates a problem internally on the master cylinder. Hello, Mr. Murphy, meet Mr. Locked Up as in rear brake that is. We lost 30 minutes of our hour practice to this and so began our chase to the rest of the weekend. Top speed was a big issue for us and remember you are talking about 5km since all the bikes are the same. Originally we looked at Rogers lines, his complaint of grip and we started down that road. Then came the aero on the bike, and gearing. This is a race of tenths and hundredths and with everything being a spec it is mostly up to the rider to figure out how to make up the time they are missing. We tried a bunch of stuff in qualifying and even some stuff that was never tested but we still only managed 29th 1.1 seconds off of pole. Sunday morning came and I was encouraged. We had some new settings and Roger, if memory serves me correctly, has always been a Sunday kind of guy. Things went much better and we were P 12 in warm up with race tires and a full load of fuel. Roger and I talked about it and we knew starting 29 was going to be tough. Make it to turn 6 was the goal and then put your head down and go. No such luck. Jason Disalvo bumped Kenny Noyes and the rest is history. Roger was bottom man on the dog pile. His head took the worst of the crash. Roger cam back to the pits and we thrashed to get him back out. We were almost done when Kevin Schwantz said they won't let him restart because he went the wrong way on the course on the way in. Cooler heads prevailed and they understood that with no handle bar it was all he could do. Roger was in some pain and a little fuzzy from the incident but we got him back out to the cheers of the spectators. The result wasn't what we wanted, 17 th, but to have been there, survived, and experienced all that is Moto 2 was pretty cool. To work with such a great bunch of guys and to finally get to work with Roger, it was my honor and privilege. To Matt, Mathew, Sam, Truckie, Steve, Rob, Kevin, and all the Moriwaki personnel. I thank you for all of your effort. To get to work with a guy with the stature of Kevin Schwantz is pretty fricking cool.Listening to  the way he sees things and hear his explanation of corners and so on was priceless. Thanks to all the staff at American Honda for letting us field their entry in the event that is Indy Moto GP
