Well, here we are in Indianapolis for the last test of our Moto 2 project and one week away from the GP weekend. It seems like only a few weeks ago that Kevin and I were talking about this project and trying to order parts. We have had two tests prior to this one beginning with Chuckwalla in California, and the last one @ Birmingham Alabama. The tests have all gone really well. The bike is a Moriwaki chassis with KYB suspension and Nissin brakes. The chassis has a lot of adjustment to it with offset, cups, along with swing arm pivot height. Everything is very trick, light, and bear the "works" look. The brakes are the works Nissin goodies and have proven to be up to the task to date. The suspension is KYB and I suspect it will be available in some form in the US in the near future. The engine is a spec that the entire field has to use. They are all Honda CBR 600 RR and built to the HRC kit spec. Teams pick a number out of a hat the beginning of every weekend and draw the engine number. For our tests we are not allowed to use one of these so we built one to the spec to the best of our ability. We have full Data ( I think we even know Rogers weight ) so we can see everything we need to but there is no engine management or traction control. All the engine management is done through the HRC kit ECU and software. There is a spec oil and fuel along with the slipper clutch. It is very unique the way the hand you an engine, ECU, clutch, data logger, and fuel and oil. I have heard that they come and download your data logger after each practice to ensure that you aren't doing anything illegal. This has been a fun ride and it continues today with our test. I will keep you posted as we move closer to the Moto GP weekend.
